My latest Victor Meldrew Moment concerns glass recycling. On the way home from shopping at Netto I was caught in traffic jam which dangerously tailed back across a railway crossing.
Why? you ask. Because the East Riding of Yorkshire Council dust cart operatives were collecting the bottles from the pub on the corner by some traffic lights. Where were these bottles going? Answer,* LANDFILL*. Why do we householders bother to separate our bottles for colour and take them to the bottle bank? Why can bottles be collected from the network of bottle banks but not from commercial premises?
My next Meldrew Moment will concern plastics recycling.
If you have a Meldrew Moment you can share it publicly, please leave a reply, thanks.
