Recent dead donkey in the London Evening Standard.? Sea horses are back in the Thames. Maybe this doesn’t thrill you, but it does me.? 150 years ago the Thames smelt so much from sewage and dead animals that Parliament had lime rinsed cloth hung over the windows to try to kill the smell. Cholera was rife and poverty was everywhere.? If those Victorians could see a 15″ long sea horse they would probably think it was a baby monster. So the Thames is now much cleaner than it has been for many years and those cute little animals, where the mother gets a rest while the father carries the future offspring, are telling us this good news.
NB. If you are not familiar with a Dead Donkey, it means the ahrrr! item at the end of a news bulletin. Usually it concerns animals.
