I have been clearing out press cuttings concerning environmental issues.
This is from a Kent newspaper dated May30th 2004.
The White Cliffs of Dover are/were one of the few sites left where the rare Plant Meadow Clary grows. With only a handfull of sites hosting about 1,000 plants across Britain, Meadow Clary is faced with extinction.
This time extinction is being driven not just by A man but by rabbits as well. The bunnies like to nibble the flower shoots then finish off the leaves.
There were only 6 wild plants growing on the White Cliffs, so the National Trust put a cage over the plants to protect them from predatory rabbits.
You’ve guessed it! Somebody stole the cage. The Police don’t believe that the thief was a rabbit lover. The White Cliffs of Dover are a Site of Special Scientific Interest ( SSSI ) this means that the cliffs and everything on them are are protected by Law.
Don’t forget the Energy Crisis. You can help yourself and the Planet. Take a look here at my Powertune website.
