This week I picked up this sensible idea that came from a Green Alliance think tank.

It goes something like this. Abolish VAT on household goods, but introduce a ‘GREEN TAX’. This could work by having little or no tax on environmentally friendly goods e.g. recycled paper. Items like novelty fridges to keep you beer in would be heavily taxed.
