Because of climate change and the depletion of the ozone layer, more harmful ultraviolet rays reaching the earth are causing an increased risk of people losing their sight through cataracts. Cataracts are responsible for 50% of blindness worldwide already. Prevention is better and cheaper than any cure and more readily available.  Just wear sunglasses or a wide brimmmed hat. My husband is blind due to a genetic disorder, PXE. His take on this is that he would even have worn his school cap it it could have prevented his sight loss!
