Energy Star water heaters entered the market in January 2009, with only five models available. They made good sales for anyone trying to improve their home’s energy efficiency or for new building construction. Depending on the house, the climate and the heating system, the home owner can make savings between 7.5% and 55%. More and more people are expected to start using Energy Star water heaters as alternative power sources because they can save a huge amount of natural gas and electricity, not to mention that millions of tons of carbon dioxide no longer get in the atmosphere.

1. A primary model of Energy Star water heaters is that with a high-efficiency gas storage design.

2. Other Energy Star water heaters capture heat from flue gases, a feature known as gas condensing.

3. You can also obtain water heaters that will only heat water on demand; they are tankless, and they can be utilized to support the entire household.

4. Heat pump Energy Star water heaters are another viable option. The energy is captured from air and then transferred to the water.

5. Solar water heaters with an expert certification could also be a great choice for your house.

The Energy Star water heaters accepted for the tax credit count the gas, oil or propane water heaters (with or without tanks), electric heat pump water heaters and solar water heaters. You can’t apply for a tax credit if you have an electric tankless water heater or an electric storage tank water heater. The tax credit saves around 30 percent of the costs of the heaters and labor or installation costs may be included, depending on the case .

Each piece of equipment that you purchase should come with special certification, otherwise the conditions of the federal tax credit program may not work for you. Energy Star water heaters can be purchased from several well-reputed designers, but the system needs to be a match for your geographic location with the climate specificity first and foremost (just like the case if you’re going to build a solar panel).

When you read Internet reviews or forum posts, it is ideal to find out what people with similar housing conditions use and how glad they are with a specific design. Organize your search in this direction and you are most likely to come up with really convincing results. Otherwise, it shouldn’t be too troublesome to find the right Energy Star water heaters as alternative power sources for your home.

In today’s world so many are concerned about the environment and what we can do to make a difference, and the truth being there are many things we can do to thin out our carbon footprint and help to reduce energy use and protect the environment. One of my favorites is to use a clothesline and What I prefer is the rotary clothes line, easy to use and affordable and reduces the wear and tear on your dryer. Today many people don’t even think of using the clothes line.

Growing up my mom would always on nice days hang the clothes out instead of using the dryer, she just loved the smell of fresh in the clothes. In America today many people don’t hang clothes out anymore , for lot’s of reasons too, either they don’t have the time because both husband and wife work, or they don’t have the room in the yard for a line, or where they live does not allow it. But if you can use one this is the one thing the norm person can do to cut energy cost and help save our environment .

We you choose to use a clothesline the benefits are many that you can enjoy, the main benefit if you live in a warm climate is you save on utilities and the cost of a dryer. A rotary clothes line is one fourth the cost of a dryer and the life span of one is far greater. The cost to dry clothes outside is zip, nothing , the breeze and sun are free. And best of all there are not greenhouse gas emissions pouring out and the sun has the ability to kill any bacteria that may be on your clothing, Plus you are doing your part to help save the environment for you children and grand children.

There are different types of clotheslines as mentioned I prefer the rotary clothes line easy to use and affordable. Then there is the regular clothes line strung between two poles, and the retracting clothes lines. This one has the line stored in a container and its easily mounted, you just pull out what line you need when you need it. There are also frame dryers you can use indoors they don’t take up much space and you can fold them up to store them. Considering the cost of the dryer and the cost of utilities, you will definitely see some savings in your household budget. Plus the best thing of all is you are doing your part to help the environment and you will be setting an example for you children, friends and family. So give your dryer a break and let it all hang out.

Those plastic lids are ideal as tin can covers. No need even to recycle, just repurpose!

First, an apology for the silence. My ADSL link has been down. Yes thanks, it’s back again now but the main phone is out!

Anyway, back to the point of today’s post. Concerning the choice of ‘Super Nanny’ from Alaska who has been installed as the running mate for the Republicans. Great I thought, what a woman! Then I remembered a news release I read the other day. Now I wonder if all is what it appears, or is this laudable act really smoothing the path to purchase the rape of “The Last Wilderness” for oil. If anyone wants to start a “FREE ALASKA” campaign, I’ll join because I have seen her true beauty. At least if PowerTune was adopted worldwide, Alaska might stand more of a chance. A copy of the press release follows. It’s quite long, but worth taking time to read.

PRESS/SOCIAL MEDIA RELEASE
RAN Sells-Out Canadian Boreal Forests

- Rainforest Action Network greenwashes destruction of half of
Ontario, Canada’s boreal forests; despite lack of any detail
regarding vague promised protections, and without scientific
findings that doing so is ecologically sufficient

August 28, 2008
By Earth News, a project of Ecological Internet
Dr. Glen Barry, +1 (920) 776-1075

(Earth) — Rainforest Action Network (RAN) of San Francisco
has long been one of America’s leading rainforest campaign
organizations. Yet in July their campaign to protect Ontario,
Canada’s boreal forests doomed half this vital global
ecological system to industrial destruction. In return, RAN
and other proponents received vague promises of protections
over a decade from now, but no protected area boundaries or
protection plans.

Canada’s boreal forests are home to hundreds of sensitive
species of animals including polar bears, caribou and
wolverines. Boreal forests are some of the world’s largest
carbon storehouses, with holdings equal to decades of global
emissions from fossil fuels, while continually absorbing new
emissions. The boreal region is also the world’s largest
reservoir of clean fresh water.

“Just how much longer do you think environmentalists can
strike deals that give up half of large wilderness ecosystems
to industrial development for vague promises of protection?
Simply, more ecologically attuned folks know no more natural
habitats can be lost and expect to survive climate change,”
explains Ecological Internet’s President, Dr. Glen Barry.

Neither RAN, WWF or even Greenpeace realize that there is no
longer any acceptable reason to industrially destroy or
diminish an intact natural ecosystem — not if falsely FSC
certified, not to briefly alleviate poverty, and not because
indigenous people are in favor. The state of the Earth is so
grim, and the needs to protect and restore natural ecosystem
so large, that only sufficient campaigns seeking to end
industrial cutting and burning are worthwhile any longer. The
rest is greenwash.

It is unknown if 50 percent protection — of unknown strength
and placement — will be enough to fully sustain Ontario’s
biodiversity and ecosystem services. Future protections will
likely center on the sparsely populated and largely
unthreatened northern boreal, while with its promotion and
endorsement of the vague plan, RAN has greenwashed intensified
forestry and mining in the already heavily fragmented southern
boreal.

“The only meaningful forest protection is to work to keep all
ancient primary forests standing, and to meet needs for forest
products from secondary forests regenerating into old-growth.
There is no chance of achieving global ecological
sustainability until ecological destruction ends, what remains
is fully protected, and restoration begins,” explains Dr.
Barry.

in recent history — the other being
in British Columbia, Canada’s priceless Great Bear temperate
rainforest — that RAN has been a driving force in continuing
industrial loss of the world’s most important remaining large,
intact forest wildernesses. Greenwashing millions of acres of
industrial wilderness destruction in the name of indigenous
rights is not doing these people or the environment any
favors. Thankfully, RAN now does little tropical rainforest
campaigning, so they may be safe. With more victories like
this, soon there will be no ancient forests or an operable
climate.

RAN’s slide from a force for forest good to a force for forest
greenwash must not go unchallenged. This is particularly
difficult for Ecological Internet, as President Dr. Glen Barry
is a RAN rainforest award recipient, and has worked
collaboratively with them for decades. Yet RAN’s string of
blunders — also including occupying campaign offices of Al
Gore to protest oil investments (which Nader also had),
possibly swinging the 2000 election — cannot be forgotten nor
forgiven, particularly while ill-informed appeasement
continues. RAN has censored those questioning these policies
on their blog.

Dr. Barry laments, “You can’t present yourselves as cutting
edge, selfless and knowledgeable forest protestors and be
routinely cutting deals to turn over millions of acres of
ancient forests to fatcat loggers and minders. We need to
focus on how many ecosystems are necessary to maintain the
Earth’s habitability, and reaching these levels of protection
and restoration, not upon what can be indelicately and easily
negotiated.

RAN is called upon to get on board protecting all ancient
forests and working to restore mature, old-growth forests; or
they, like so much of the mainstream environmental movement,
are part of the climate and biodiversity crises. “Giving up on
half of Canada’s boreal forests for a pocket full is mumbles
is not the role of the Rainforest Action Network, members or
donors. They have no authority or expertise to be pursuing
such deals.”

###ENDS###

Dr. Glen Barry is a leading global spokesperson on global
forest and climate policy. Ecological Internet provides the
world’s leading climate and forest web portals at
http://www.climateark.org/ and http://forests.org/.

Lately the world has gone even crazier than usual.

Some County in Minnesota is going to disband it’s Police Force to save money!?!?

Poland that has been invaded more than any other European Country because it is flat and slap bang in the middle of the continent so trouble comes from all sides. So how are they going to fight the credit crunch? By cutting their defence budget, of course!

Orlando, Florida. 39 bus routes are to to face cuts. So, how will people have to travel? Use cars more or walk. In a land built for a minimum of four wheels each, you could die of starvation walking to a shop. I know, I tried walking there, but gave up and hired a car.

Next to save costs Mr Bush is cutting the Science budget, presumably so he can have his country continue fighting everyone else’s war. Not the defence side of this budget, but the area that did atmospheric research to try to find ways of helping the world’s poorest nations fight climate change.

China has had to take cars off the road to fight pollution because of the Olympic Games. This means that the people who were disposessed and given no compensation because their homes were in the way of the stadium, can sleep in the open and actually see the stars for the first time in years.

David and Goliath have taken up arms and Israel is coming in on David’s side. Doesn’t Israel have enough trouble at home without mixing it on Georgia’s side against mighty Russia.

And who is just round the corner? Poland who is cutting its defense budget!

But, what I am certain of is that spending a little on a Powertune energy saver will save a lot of money and energy. At least something is reliable and makes sense in the world. today.

Good idea, or is it? The rich will be able to pay the duty, just like many 4×4 drivers pay for fuel in the UK.

How many poor tea pickers in Sri Lanka can afford large energy consuming electrical goods anyway?

Well at least taxes will bring in money for the Government. It’s what is done with it then that matters. Build solar collectors, wind turbines or wave energy? We can live in hope. At least they are making an effort which is more than can be said for the Bush Administration or much of Europe. We are too good at talking and debating or ‘fiddling while Rome burns.”

If you want to do something constructive to save energy. Save energy AND money with POWERTUNE ENERGY SAVER.

An elderly Swedish gentleman with a good memory has returned to the techniques the Swedes used during the war. The method involes burning wood in a container in the back of the car. Tore Bolmquist manages a 300 mile round trip for about £35. Not bad, but it is just as well Sweden has lots of trees if this catches on again!

I will soon be bringing you a product that was also used in WW2. I have been using it for twelve years extremely successfully. In the mean time there is always energy and money to save with Powertune Energy Saver. It’s worth every penny.

Doesn’t acknowledge Climate Change so he’ll leave it for the next administration. Is he playing God? While he is in power Climate Change doesn’t exist. Somehow it will only be happening when the next administration takes power.

Now top it off, Bush has given the go-ahead for more off-shore oil extraction. He really does begger belief. Why not elect Arnie to the Whitehouse, he’s making a great job of California. What postive things has Bush ever done for the USA or the World? Someone please tell me.

At least I will be able to say I tried to help the World by introducing Powertune Energy Saver. The Planet will benefit more from the 25% of electricity that Powertune can save than oil extracted to curry favour.
