The decision to halve the find in tarrif for solar voltaic domestic installations has gone the way of the users not the Governent.

Is this Good or Bad

Opinion is divided. Firstly, why did people select to buy solar voltaic panels? Was it to cut their own energy costs? or make money?Panels are far from cheap and not available to many people on cost alone, not just because their roof does not face south. So people who have money were in the position to make money – nothing new there, it’s the way of the World. I wonder how many people actually purchased because they morally and honestly wanted to save energy? You may wonder if I have solar voltaic. The answer is no. Why? because even with a generous feedback tarrif it is unlikely that the payback time would be in our lifetime. Our choice is to run the gas central heating at 15C during the day and off at night. If it’s nippy during the day we put on a body warmer or woolly. At night, a microwave hot water bottle and feather duvet. I don’t have flu injections and haven’t had an infection of any kind for years. No, I’m not a nut, just a 65 year old ageing hippy who was bought up in a house with one coal fire and a gas heater for the bath.

Back to the question. We do have a commercial Solar Panel which is carbon neutral I.E. doesn’t need to be plugged in and runs by using the energy from a dinky solar voltaic cell to drive a pump. This was supplied by Solar Twin who took over the development from Edinburgh Uni. Logic told me that if it worked in Scotland ……. need I say more? Sorry Scotland! Anyway you have until the beginning of March to get your photovoltaic solar panel fixed. The only company I would recommend is Solar Twin. They use the highest quality silicon in their panels ( think breast implants) they are an established firm with an energy saving ethos, not just out to make a quick Buck. I’m not an affiliate – I don’t get paid to say this. I’m an admirer.

tarrif changes Solar energy Voltaic, Government acts illegally, 8 week consultation then reviews and responses.

Solar PV tariffs update:

The implications of the recent Judicial Review decision mean that the pre 12th December tariffs (43.3p per kWh of solar electricity generated for small domestic installations) cannot be changed to the proposed figure of 21p until after the full parliamentary process – i.e. an 8 week consultation, followed by a review of the responses and then a 40 day period before the legislation takes effect. But this is unless the Government wins an appeal.

Government was not given leave to appeal, but if it wants to make a case it must put that forward by 4th January 2012.

Effectively the situation for systems going in now is one of two things.

· If Government is able to appeal, and also if it wins, we then revert to the original situation. I.e. there is a valid consultation ongoing, and a domestic system can expect to earn 21p (or whatever government concludes after the consultation) from 1st April.

· If government is not able to appeal, or if it loses on appeal, then the 43p tariff remains in place until the new Parliamentary process has concluded (which is expected to be 1st April 2012).

Our position is that we are deeply concerned about the implications of this Judicial Review. We are concerned about the budgetary implications of a return to 43p, because it means that the funds may run out too soon.

We will keep you posted when we have any further information.

Additional news is the publication of two select committee reports which criticise Government’s handling of the tariff changes. Listen again to Tim Yeo on Radio 4.

You’ve read about radiant barrier but are probably confused. Is it a excellent method of overall power performance for your home?

On hot summer time days, solar power is absorbed by your residence’s ceiling. It heats the roof sheathing and leads to the underside of the sheathing and ceiling framing to become hot. These areas then radiant warmth downward toward your attic ground. Radiant barriers lessen the flow of power; if applied to the underside of the rafters; radiant barrier may restrict the total amount of heat permitted to penetrate the residence.

The volume of heat radiant striking the top of the insulation is reduce than without, the insulation floor temp is reduce and the heat flow into the living spaces is reduced. By cutting down the power reaching the attic ground, radiant barrier also reduces the attic air temp.

Power trade is obviously greatest once the temperatures variation is high; the underside of a ceiling deck could generally have a elevated emittance factor. Once which wooden surface is coated by a radiant barrier at a much reduce remittance, the thermal radiation is reduced. Once a radiant barrier with a high reflectivity is placed on top of the attic floor (standard mass) insulation, considerably of the heat radiated from the hot ceiling is shown back again outwards.

For the duration of the wintertime, radiant barrier can lower interior warmth decline by means of the ceiling, in particular for the duration of the night time when the roof surface is the coldest. The downside is that they additionally lessen effective daytime heat gains due to solar heating. Relying on your climate, level of attic insulation and various factors, the net winter weather effect can be positive or negative.

In short, radiant barrier isn’t essentially appropriate for every residence. But as a cost-savings tool, it’s certainly really worth some investigation and comparability shopping.

Solar Photovoltaic panel subsidy likely to end soon warns Solartwin, the Uk zero carbon solar panels.

Solartwin Zero Carbon Solar Panels sent me this warning letter. (I have one of their solar water heaters, it’s excellent)

A UK government funding collapse leading to a crash cut in solar electric panels PV subsidy called the Feed in Tariff (FIT) is looking increasingly possible, following the emergence of:

(a) numerous start-up companies offering free PV installations (in return for 25 years of subsidy!) and now

(b) the impending large scale development of many massive solar farms in Cornwall emptying the government’s coffers rather suddenly.
Just look at the huge scale of these planned new PV solar farms. First look at the scale of a domestic scale PV installation. This is usually 1, 2 3 or 4 kWp in size. (at a typical cost of £6.5k to £18.5k). But a typical commercial, FIT-subsidised PV farm can be 5000 kWp.

Such a PV farm is over 1000 times bigger than a domestic PV installation.

These huge new solar fields will soak up subsidy so fast that there will soon be little or even none left at all (welcome to the regular story of start-stop government green energy subsidy). They all need planning permission and there are are said to be about 85 planning permissions in progress for giant scale 5000 kWp (aka 5MWp) FiT PV farms. 25 of these are located in Cornwall, which is the sunniest part of UK.

If they are built in 2011, they will suck up virtually ALL of the remaining allocated budget for FIT’s.

The Treasury is rumoured to be VERY concerned and to be watching VERY closely.

Therefore an almost immediate FIT review may happen – perhaps as early as spring 2011.

According to the Financial Times, latecomers to the Feed in Tariff (FIT) could lose out as rates are cut according to the FT 6-7 November 2010′s longer paper print version of this story:

Financial Times opinion: Latecomers to the Feed In Tariff “could lose out”
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/79d4bb38-e8e9-11df-a383-00144feab49a.html?ftcamp=rss#axzz14pH2ebTJ

Government had already announced that FITs will be reviewed in 2012, a year ahead of their original schedule, unless “higher than expected deployment” required an early review. The Government has also already identified scope to cut FIT costs by 10 per cent. Will that be all?

Go for solar today order your peak rate FIT subsidised solar PV panels from Solartwin now!

And buy with confidence. If your feed in tariff drops by over 20% between the date of your order and the date that we agree to start your installation, then you can abandon your order completely and get a 100% refund (This offer is made on top of your normal retail consumer rights: it does not diminish them). So no worries.

For reliable installers of solar panels for over a decade – choose Solartwin today. Don’t miss the boat!

Solar Twin Ltd have always been justified in their warnings about possible subsidy cuts over the years. I do hope that we are very, very wrong this time. Please call me on 0845 1300 137 if you want to discuss solar.

If you are considering changing your house or business over to wind power, either to satisfy a hundred % of your energy wants. maybe you just want to beef up your existing power supply to scale back your total energy costs. One of the first things you must do is invest in a collection of Wind Generator Plans. These should detail all the points that you are going to need to take into consideration before deciding if it is a feasible offer for your own situation.

With the continuous increase in the cost of the fuels needed to generate electricity. At the same time there is the constantly growing need for us all to cut back on our usage of fossil fuels to help scale back the effects of global temperature increases. Now may be the perfect time for you to start considering other methods for powering your house.

One of the key points to think about is the area in which you live. Clearly, a wind turbine will require wind; so the wind speeds in your area have to be investigated . Ideally you’ll be hoping to find a typical wind speed of twelve miles per hour. Details of where to go to investigate this would be included in your wind generator plans. Should you find that you do not live in an good area for wind energy, you could consider homemade solar panels as an alternative.

You will need to find precisely how much power your house is using now. It may be worth taking this opportunity of having a look at your appliances and see if there are options available that take less power. For example, low power light bulbs and energy efficient fridges and freezers. This can scale back your overall power wants. This will, in turn, cut back on the expenses of building your own energy conversion plant.

Power generated from wind turbines will need some kind of storage facility, particularly if you’re proposing to be self sufficient for your energy needs. This isn’t so much of a problem if you are only intending using your house built system to support your mains power supply. Then you can always revert back to this should there not be sufficient wind available. The method of storing the remaining energy is by the utilization of an array of batteries, which can on occasion be built to store as little or as much power as you want conditional on your individual requirements. The way to calculate the power that you will need and the quantity of storage you will require will be included within your wind generator plans.

Examine out these websites: Wind generator plans and Domestic Solar Power for more info.

100% Free Electricity – Cheap Homemade Solar Panel [from www.metacafe.com]Building a windmill to generate your own electricity can led you towards reducing your electrical energy bill by as much as 80 percent. In a number of cases, it may perhaps eliminate the bill completely. In the event that you create more power with your windmill then you can actually use, your local power company may purchase this power back from you.

That’s right – you could get paid for using energy. How cool is that?

With the ever increasing cost of getting by steadfastly going higher and higher, it is no wonder that most are looking for techniques by which they can effectively condense their costs and save cash.

You can quickly expose assorted step-by-step instruction guides online, which should take you by the hand and softly lead you towards energy autonomy. Additionally, why should you care to pay $1000′s of bucks for a commercial wind power generator when you can successfully build your own for rather less than $200?

Quite likely, you have not tried wind power at home because you were under the impression that this was totally too costly and out of your reach. Nothing could be further from the truth! Maybe if you had a pro come in and install one of the commercial units on your home, that may be the case, but by simply building and installing the units yourself, you’ll see a serious cost reduction. Almost all of the parts that you will need can be discovered at your local store and you more than likely already have all of the required tools to build the unit. VIDEO HERE

When you select a guide ( or directions ), be certain that it’s one from a trustworthy source or it can end up being extremely perplexing and you may eventually not end up making your wind turbine at all . Find one that’s in easily read and offers many clear illustrations that will help steer you from start to finish.

People have become more conscious of finding ways to reduce their home expenses while providing cleaner air for the environment. The cost of electric continues to rise and the carbon released from your home is similar to that of an SUV. Solar panels have become increasingly popular as a solution to this problem. The benefits outweigh other residential systems and increase the value of your home.

The expenditure of solar power systems quickly turns positive as electricity savings increase. A homeowner can expect to spend $20,000 to $40,000 depending on the size of the residence. Within 5 years, large homes with high-output electric usage will break even. Your home may convert to traditional power on cloudy days to reduce any interruptions. On cloudy days, your home can be converted back to traditional energy. Excess energy will default to the power grid and actually spin your meter backwards during the day, generating a credit on your utility bill.

Some individuals opt to supplement their electricity with the guarantee there are no breaks in service, while others exclusively power their homes with solar energy. While some people choose to supplement their electricity to guarantee no interruptions, others completely power their homes with these systems. Homeowners can choose systems ranging from 1000 to 10,000 watts of output depending on your needs. In the past, installing solar panels on a roof was unsightly. Rectangular and triangular models are available, blending beautifully even into multi-faceted roofs. The design fits flush without jutting outwards like previous made panels.

Installing a solar power system not only reduces your electric bill, but also earns you a 30% energy tax credit, and the US House of Representatives passed legislation that extends this credit until 2016. Legislation was passed by the US House of Representatives that extends this credit until 2016. You can take advantage of other tax incentives and rebates that can save 60% towards the purchase cost. There are also property relief and production incentives.

As families become more Earth friendly, the future looks promising with an 80 % increase of homes utilizing residential solar systems as their primary electric supply. With popularity growth and a tighter economy, the cost is moving towards a more affordable investment. You will profit economically and environmentally, making you proud to own a solar residence. The impact on cleaner air and natural energy will demonstrate great improvements towards pollution reduction.

Summer time is here, so lets enjoy the fun on a sunny day and stay cool. Like other property owners, you may be thinking, a pool. Regardless of what type of swimming pool you consider, an inground or an above ground pool, they all require a fair amount of maintenance. There are several things you should consider prior to deciding on putting in a swimming pool.

The extra requirements that you need to have with your new swimming pool ought to be explained by the representative or salesman that you’ll be dealing with. For you to operate your pool, there are several things that you simply need to have to get started.

To start with a filtration system will have to be fitted. The capacity of the pool will determine the type of filtration system that you select. A pool filter is very important, as it can help to take out small particles and microorganisms from building up in your pool water.

One more important item is a vacuum. The type of vacuum you select on would depend on what type of swimming pool you are going to have. There are many kinds of vacuums on the market, and you want to be certain that you don’t buy the wrong one. Vacuums are necessary to running your pool, as they help to clean out debris settled on the bottom.

A strainer or skimmer basket can also be required and aids in the running of the filtration system and also the vacuum. Strainers or skimmer baskets will keep your swimming pool clean by catching bugs and debris that manage to enter your pool. This basket and strainer will probably be very valuable for your new swimming pool as part of the cleaning is done by these products.

Protecting your swimming pool is extremely important, so a pool cover is needed. There are numerous different pool covers that you can choose from and they come in lots of sizes and shapes. A cover will protect your swimming pool from debris and elements, as well as keeping those you adore from drowning. It’s a good idea to cover your swimming pool when you are not using it, so your pool cover ought to be very tough and simple to use.

When purchasing your pool, a rain water tank is something else that you ought to consider. By putting in a water tank you’re eliminating the cost of using the town water for your swimming pool. You’ll be able to fill your pool from the rain water tank any time that the swimming pool needs to be filled, also you will be able to water your lovely gardens that are around your swimming pool. Putting in a rain water tank will probably be very cost efficient in the long term.

A maintenance chart is also necessary. With a maintenance chart, you can keep track of what you’ve done to your swimming pool, the level of chemicals that you are using, and also the readings of the tests that you have done in your pool water. Maintenance charts really are a good way of remembering what you have done to your pool, but this chart is usually neglected.

Chemicals is something else that is required. Keeping your water balanced is important and this could affect the health of the swimmers along with there wellbeing. pH chemicals, chlorine and clarifier are just some of the chemical substances that’s needed. All sorts of chemicals are essential, and need to be used to keep your water levels healthy. These levels can be examined daily as you do your regular maintenance.

To be able to conduct tests on your swimming pool, you will need a testing kit. These kits will explain the different chemical levels in your swimming pool water and you are able to use either a strip kit or a bottle kit. If you’re goning to keep your pool healthy, you will need to do tests. They only take a few minutes to carry out and are very simple to do.

To look after your swimming pool properly and having it look great you need to buy the items listed above. Yes you will find other pool accessories that you can purchase, such as toys and furniture but they’re not a requirement for your new swimming pool. These are some of the points that you have to think about when deciding on putting in a pool.
